Firstly, I owe you all and apology for not visiting or even answering comments last week.. I hope to rectify the comments later today (if I can) and will be visiting blogs when I can. I am mostly writing this because I didn't want to miss out on WOYWW400!
The weekend in Aberdeen was so very fast and fun... and just the distraction I needed.
There is no photo of my desk today as nothing new is there from last week. I finished the photo album and all of the cards I was working on have arrived so I will show them instead.
Final paw print card |
Card for music loving Will who turned 21 |
Card for mental health nursing student Fran for her 23rd birthday |
Card for a new friend Chris who asked for Navy, White and Grey. |
That's my post for today... feel free to read below if you want to know why I've nothing started this week...
Have a good week... and happy 400th WOYWW!
Erika
The truth is, I spent most of yesterday at Southampton University Hospital in Nuclear Medicine having a Sestamibi Spect CT scan to assess my parathyroid glands which have gone rogue and are causing all sorts of problems for me... including pain, fatigue and worse of all, confusion. Each of these have been growing progressively worse since I was diagnosed in November.
Parathyroid glands control the body's calcium and phosphorous levels, and I have been undergoing loads of tests and scans to understand how this is affecting me and the test yesterday should hopefully help localise where the glands are and which of the 4 are over producing PHT with the likelihood being a need for those to be surgically removed. I see my endocrinologist at the end of February for all of the results.
Hopefully I will understand more soon and can start looking forward to getting better.
Thanks for reading x
Erika
Great news that you enjoyed your "princess" weekend, lovely makes in today's post but real sorry to read you ended up in hospital yesterday, hope you get the results (and treatment) you need

Thanks Kathy... it was an appointment I had been waiting for since November.. the last of many.. so it was planned more than me ending up there. Been dreading it so was so grateful for the "princess" weekend right before it.
DeleteHappy 400th WOYWW too x
Happy 400th WOYWW. I love all of your personalised cards. I had not heard of the parathyroid glands. I hope you get sorted soon. (I had most of my thyroid removed a few years ago, due to a large lump growing on it, which thankfully was benign.) Ali x #4
ReplyDeleteThe parathyroid glands sit behind the thyroid... and although I had remembered them from college biology.. I had no clue what they did or that they could cause so much trouble!
DeleteGlad you are ok after your surgery and that it was benign.. the body is such a miracle really!
Happy WOYWW 400!
Share your dilemma Erika! I hate WOYWW'ing when I have no time to return any visits to my blog so have missed so many weeks - but not the 400th! What an achievement for our much loved Julia! Hope you soon get your medical issues sorted - sounds like you have had a rotten old time of it. Love & hugs for you from Debbie #32 xXx
ReplyDeleteI was just lucky they spotted it when they were testing me to help understand why I keep miscarrying.. my 4th was in September.. and they found this. My high calcium level is likely to be a factor in these losses.. so yes.. it's been a truly awful time recently.
DeleteI was in two minds if I should post or not... but I didn't want to miss out x
Gosh good job you explained, I had never heard of the parathyroid gland before, sounds nasty. Hope it all gets sorted for you. Sending extra big gentle hugs, Angela x 23
ReplyDeleteI did a lot of reading and was grateful for medical insurance through work to find me help so quickly... just hope we can move forward soon.
DeleteHugs back x
Oh the aiting and oh the feeling of wasting time Erika, I know it! Had a friend with the same condition who got her life back the day after the surgery, so I hope it all works itself out for you...the path to diagnosis has been awful for you and I'm sure there isn't one person visiting today that wouldn't take it off you if they could. Suddenly, crafting is a therapy again, huh. xxx
ReplyDeleteWow.. I am really hoping that I will recover quickly too... it's starting to really impact my life especially at work.
DeleteEverything you face makes you stronger.. you know that from facing as much as you have and coming out the other side. I'd not give this to anyone else to take on.. not having lived with it.
Crafting is the best therapy.. just need the mojo back.. but I am working on it!
xx
Oh Erika, I hope that all these tests manage to sort out what can be done for you. Sending hugs xxxxx
ReplyDeleteCrafting can help though, those cards are great fun!
Happy 400th WOYWW!
Hugs, LLJ 7 xxx

Thank you.. I hope so too :)

Hope the tests reveal what they need to know to help you get back on track soon. Love the cards you have made. Tracy #31
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteNo apologies needed. Hope they get to the bottom of things and that you are feeling better soon. Sarah #17/18?
ReplyDeleteThank you.. I hope so too x
DeleteOh dear Erika I had no idea that you were ill. I do hope that they work out how to help you soon. All your cards are gorgeous and the recipients must be thrilled with them. Take care. Hugs Jackie
ReplyDeleteI try not to talk about it too much because so much worse is happening to people I love and I hate burdening others.. so I smile and get by... but it is getting harder.
DeleteYes cards were all well received :)
golly, how awful - hope they can work it out and get you sorted soon. Happy 400th - great cards! Helen #1
ReplyDeleteAt least I know what is happening and my consultant has been great at explaining things.. I will get better x
DeleteGlad you like the cards xx
Hi Erika. Happy 400th. Oh my goodness - this sounds horrid. I do hope that all the scan results come back quickly and clearly, showing very definitely how you should be able to move forward. Don't worry about the visits round folk - we all understand that sometimes life just is too much.
ReplyDeleteTake care dear girl. God bless.

DeleteI hope you soon start to feel better. That sounds awful!
ReplyDeleteLove the cards, each one seems so appropriate for the person for whom it was intended. Bet they were so welcomley received.
Hugs, Neet 10 xx
The cards were loved.. which made me very happy.. just waiting for Chris to get his Dragon one.. I am so excited for it to get to him lol
DeleteI will get better.. Better is my word for 2017 :)
Fun cards! I'm sure the recipients will love their card! Happy 400th, and thanks for sharing! Lindart #47
ReplyDeleteGlad your weekend went well. Super cards. I have never heard of what you have - you poor thing. I do hope that you can get it sorted and sooner rather than later! I am so sorry for my late reply. My mum was admitted to hospital yesterday - she went to get results and they kept her in. As she lives about a three hour journey away it is hard. A lot of phone calls last night and I was very tired afterwards.
